Individual dlc doesn't add any value to your game. dlc segregation means you need to buy all the dlc or none If you try to force people to do something what usually happens is people stop liking you which makes in their mind justifiable to get what they want illegally. If you are trying to force player to buy content so they can use their own base content then some of those people who need the dlc don't want it will be tempted to get the dlc using some other ways. it is HARD and costs lots of money to solve this problem So the choises are to buy the game or don't. Just to enjoy the base game content online you need those 2 dlc packs. New players who are buying the game now are facing much steeper price for the game. As of now unless you like nordschleife dlc1 is very bad value for online usage. How does the online server list look now for someone who just bought the first dlc? Very empty. So not only does it sell less but at cheaper price. No wonder they had to resort to giving the dlc1 free with the game at some points because it was impossible to play online at one point without it. This also means that in order for ac to keep selling the dlc it needs to be heavily discounted.

This all makes the dlc less valuable because you can use it less. Players can use it less often, there are less people to play against using the dlc and it is harder to create leagues where everyone has different game. So what happens to the dlc if it creates segregation? The dlc becomes less valuable purchase. Do they do it because they think players like it or do they do it because it makes them more money? And they have done it regardless of the fact they sell individual cars. Even iracing which is about 20 times more expensive than ac has done it. everybody have solved this issue except acĪnd everybody have solved this issue.

They have proper dlc distribution because it makes them more money. Would they do it if it made less money? No. The ea, sony and microsoft are all doing this. And they have all stopped doing it and instead they make the dlc as non-segregating as possible. Many games have tried to force dlc sales this way. The thing is forcing people to buy the dlc don't make them buy the dlc. That allows you to play on all servers even if you are just using the base content cars and tracks. In order to fully enjoy the game you need to buy all the dlc. If you play less you are less likely to buy new dlc. But in the end people can play less together. Some people stop playing, some few buy the content. Now when you want to make sure you can all play on one server you all need to use base game content. You have the ones who own base game, those who own game+dlc1, those who own game+dlc2 and those who own all the things. Now everytime a new dlc comes out the playerbase is divided into smaller groups.
